RuneScape Firemaking SKILL GUIDES

Firemaking Skill Guide:

Can you find a range to cook all your food? Well this skill will make you cook food anywhere in Runescape. All you need is 2 things, Logs, and a tinderbox. Use the tinderbox with the logs, or the logs with the tinderbox. You can tell if you have selected, as the item will have a white boarder around it.

fire light

You get tinderboxes from a general store for 1 gold coin if you have lost yours from when you first started.

The chance to light fires depends on your firemaking level and the log you wish to light. Firemaking like all skills, are linked with other skills (woodcutting and cooking).

The Table below shows the logs, level of firemaking that is required, the exp you gain from each fire you light, and it will also tell you if it is members only or not.

Pyres

In my opinion, this entire "quest" is about getting the Splitbark Armor pieces. There really is nothing else to be obtained here, other than various pieces of armor. You can take the cloth to the Mage's Tower South of Draynor, and have it crafted there.

In order to make the pyre logs, you need different types of cremated Shade remains. These are obtained in Mort'ton. You also need to acquire Sacred Oil, which is made by using Olive Oil on the temple's Sacred
Fire, but you need a sanctity of 10% or more.

The Shades are found floating around in Mort'ton, and the tombs in the surrounding area. You need to complete the Mort'ton Shades Quest in order to burn the Shades Reamains, as well as to gain entrance to the tomb. Alternately, you can complete the "In search of the Myresque" quest to obtain an easier route to Mort'ton.

In order to enter the Mort'ton dungeon, you need a key. The minimum key is bronze, which you can obtain by following these instructions. Place a pyre log (treated with Sacred Oil) on a funeral pyre, found around Mort'ton, then placing Shade Reamins on the Pyre. Light the Pyre with a Tinderbox, and the Shade will be "relased" into the Afterlife. Some loot will appear, randomly it seems. You will recieveone of four keys. These keys are Bronze, Steel, Black and Silver. Each key opens a new level of the dungeon, as well as chests inside the dungeon. The chests are color coded for easy recognition. These chests contain random loot, coins, or Fine Cloth, which can be used in making Splitbark Armor. Each key also has a color heirerarchy, this being brown, red, crimson, black and purple. Brown being the lowest, and Purple being the highest. The higher the key, the better the loot.

You need to at least cremate a Loar Shade at first in order to obtain a Bronze Key to enter the dungeon, and other keys can be obtained further in the dungeon, by burning other shades.

Chest Loot

All chests return this loot:
(note: the higher the key, the more loot you recive, i.e. more coins or more Swamp Paste)

= Coins

= Fine cloth

= Swamp paste, You can sell this to a general store, or hang onto it for building the temple at a later date.

If you think that firemaking is unless them you are mistaken. Firemaking is not only used on logs to light fire to cook food.

Some places in Runescape can only be access if there is a light source, e.g. caves. So how are you going to get to these places for some quests? The answer is, to light candles, lanterns, torches and lamps. Here is a table below of the level required to light this, so you are able to again into these places. Please note you don’t get exp from these items due to the fact that you can relight them.
