StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty's Easter Egg

Nestled at the far edge of the map is the Lord of Terror, Diablo, stranded on an island and surrounded by molten lava. (So that's why they call it the Devil's Playground...) He's unclickable, meaning that you can't sic your Terran forces on the antagonist of Blizzard's role-playing game series, but he's certainly not immune to Redstone III's rising pools of lava. Click the above image to Diablo-size or watch his unholiness in action below. Or, hell, float your Barracks over to the bottom right corner and face down the evil one himself.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Best scifi real-time strategy game

One of the best-selling games ever. Finally 12 years later, a sequel is born and will be released in the next couple days (July 27). And the graphics are bad (mo’ fuggin) ass. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, like the first version, is a military science fiction real-time strategy game. It features the return of the three races from the original game: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg.

Besides aesthetic upgrades, the second series is designed to focus more on the multiplayer aspect. The changes include overall improvement in Battle.net, a new competitive ladder system for ranked games and new matchmaking mechanics that’ll pair up players of equal skill levels.

Free 'Starcraft II Collectors Edition'

Most "collectors' editions" you find on the market are actually tin-clad, glorified game cases you find on the store shelves the same price a few months later. Not with the StarCraft 2 Collectors' Edition. If you haven't pre-ordered this behemoth of a box set, then the only place you're going to snag one is on eBay.

Blizzard has stuffed the Collector's Edition box set with numerous items well worth the $89.99 price tag. The box opens like a set of bay doors into an Easter basket of all things StarCraft. There's the "Art of StarCraft 2" hardcover book, a behind-the-scenes DVD, the soundtrack, two guest passes for your friends to play StarCraft and World of Warcraft, a comic book, and a hard copy of the game. But that last bit wasn't necessarily the best part; Blizzard also includes the first StarCraft game on a USB dogtag for your enjoyment.

Visual learners, on the other hand, would do well to subscribe to HuskyStarCraft and HDStarCraft on YouTube. Not only do they regularly broadcast (and provide commentary for) matches between professional StarCraft II players, but they occasionally produce tutorial videos, as well.

If you're looking for a StarCraft II coach, Sean "Day[9]" Plott is about as close as you can get; in his Day[9] Daily online series, he systematically dissects and explains StarCraft II replays with the patience and detail of your favorite college professor. He doesn't focus exclusively on the pros, either--check the archive for episodes devoted to debugging lower-level play as well.

Blizzard's own Battle.net forums are a good place to start--a solid mix of newbies and veterans hang out there to ask and answer questions. If you're looking for people with a stronger competitive streak (and plenty of free time), however, drop by the Team Liquid home page and forums for a chance to chat with bona fide professional players, or read their Liquipedia II wiki for plenty of information on competitive StarCraft.

StarCraft II Guide Tips

If you've played only a few single-player missions in the original StarCraft, there are a few basic things you need to know about the game.

Use Attack to move units. When you select your units and order them to Move, they'll go to the specified destination but ignore any enemy units they pass along the way. To avoid this suicidally single-minded behavior, select your units and use the Attack command to send them to the desired location. They'll reach their destination just as quickly; but if they run into an enemy ambush, they'll defend themselves.

Try the A.I. Don't dive into the ranked mode games--you'll get stomped, and you won't learn much from the experience. Instead, open your own Custom Game and click the Add A.I. button to add a CPU-controlled player. Set the difficulty level to Very Easy, and you'll have all the time in the world to learn the technology trees and to practice deploying your units.

StarCraft II's Help menu; click for full-size image. Use the Help menu. StarCraft II's built-in Help menu (accessible from the in-game menu or by pressing F12) can give you a brief overview of each race's tech trees, units, and potential counterunits.

If you completed the original Starcraft campaign and maybe played some games with your friends, you probably already knew all of the preceding tips. However, you can squeak by in campaign mode despite making a few common mistakes or falling into a few bad habits; those same mistakes and habits will get you killed online.

Pick a race and play with it for a while. Each of the playable races in StarCraft II is very, very different: Protoss units are expensive but hard to kill, Zerg units can swarm across the map with cheap, disposable units, and Terrans can control the map with imposing fortifications and powerful ranged weaponry. Try each of them, but then pick the one you like best and stick with it for a while--it's easier to learn how to play one race well than to master three of them at once.
Avoiding Common StarCraft II Newbie Mistakes

StarCraft II workers; click for full-size image. Build more workers. Workers give you money, and you need money to finance an army. If you think that you have too many workers, build an expansion at another mineral patch and send half of your workers over there--and continue building workers from both Command Centers. One base can support about two workers per mineral patch and three workers per Vespene gas geyser, so it's time to expand once you have about 20 workers at a base.

Use the keyboard commands. Ordering your units around with the mouse is slow. Each command has a keyboard shortcut, such as A for Attack and B for Build. Get used to the keyboard commands, and your army will feel like a well-oiled machine.

Build lots of first-tier combat units. New players often try to build up their tech tree as quickly as possible because they want the big flashy stuff--and just as often lose to a guy who builds a handful of cheap attack units and attacks early. Think of it this way: you have to earn those big flashy units by living long enough to get them without losing, and for that you need Zerglings/Zealots/Marines.

Keep an eye on your opponent. If you know what your opponent is doing, it's easier to devise an effective counterstrategy. Send an SCV out to look for the enemy maybe a minute into the game, and conduct additional surveillance periodically. Sacrifice overlords, build observers, use ComSat scans, whatever--few things are as frustrating as building a strong ground army and then losing because your opponent made a single air unit that you had no answer for.

Spend your money as quickly as possible. Money in the bank is money that isn't winning you the game. If you have more than 300 to 400 minerals on hand, you're not spending fast enough.

Don't worry about towers. Bunkers, Missile Turrets, Photon Cannons, Spine Crawlers, and Spore Crawlers--they're all great until someone walks right around them and kills all your dudes. Use them sparingly--a less-powerful unit that can move is often far more useful than a powerful one that can't. If you see your opponent building a bunch of towers early on to protect their base, relax--it means they're spending all their money on towers instead of on an army or on new technology.

Terran wall-in in StarCraft II; click for full-size image. Two Supply Depots and a Barracks should do fine, though using two Barracks makes for more Baneling-resistant wall. Be careful, though: You don't want your Marines to spawn outside the wall, or they'll get butchered; so set the Rally Point for the Barracks to a spot inside the wall, and they'll be fine. When you want to open the wall, just select the Supply Depot and click Lower.

Don't forget the detector. You'll want at least one unit that can move and detect cloaked units--Protoss Observers, Zerg Overseers, or the Terran Raven (or ComSat Sweep). You don't want to lose just because your opponent built one Dark Templar.

Playing Terran? Block off your ramp. The Terran Marine loses to the Zergling and the Zealot in close-quarters combat, so if your opponent is playing as a Zerg or Protoss commander, you should use your buildings to block off the main entrance to your base.

Take advantage of Control groups. Managing a large army is a pain. You can assign separate keyboard shortcuts to frequently used units and buildings. Just select the unit or building and press Ctrl + any number you want to assign to it, and thereafter you'll be able to select the desired unit or building simply by pressing that number key. This arrangement is very useful when you want to build units without scrolling all the way back to your base, or when you want to issue different orders to different units.

Build more supply depots. Any time you spend waiting for completion of a Supply Depot so you can build more units is time that your opponent is spending building more units. To avoid this kind of downtime disadvantage, build another Supply Depot whenever you get close (within 4 food or so) to hitting your supply cap, .

Build more Barracks/Gateways/Hatcheries. The more unit-production buildings you have, the faster you can rebuild your army. And they typically don't cost much, either--a Zealot costs 100 minerals, and a Gateway costs 150.

Start every game with 'gl hf' (Good Luck, Have Fun), and end every game with 'gg' (Good Game). This is a sign of StarCraft sportsmanship. No matter how crushing the defeat or how glorious the victory, you should do it.
Learn the Lingo

Avoid the front door; click for full-size image. Use the back door. Your guys will get killed entering the enemy base from the front. Each race has its own way of getting around blockades, and each map has its own surprise entrances and back-doors. Learn them, use them, love them.

Attack enemy workers. You don't have to challenge your opponent's army head-on. Harass the worker line, and your opponent will have a much harder time rebuilding the army or researching better tech--and you can catch the army out of position when it comes back to defend.

Die-hard StarCraft players have a few phrases that you'll need to know if you want to get better.

Micro is short for Micromanagement--your ability to issue detailed orders to your units during combat. The better you are at micromanaging your units, the more mileage you'll get out of each individual unit in your army.

Macro stands for Macromanagement--your capacity to maintain a thriving economy, establish expansion bases, and rebuild your army. Both micro and macro skills are crucial, but beginner players should focus more on their macro skills first.

Build Order is a player's beginning game plan, similar to an opening in chess. Different build orders lend themselves to different strategies. Zerg players, for example, often like to invest in their economy early on by quickly building a second Hatchery; but if they're worried about an early rush, they might instead spend the money on more Zerglings or Roaches.

APM stands for Actions Per Minute--a measurement of how quickly you order your army around. Though having a high APM is great, giving the right orders is more important than giving lots of orders.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment as a sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft. Released on July 27, 2010, the game was developed for concurrent release on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. StarCraft II is split into three installments: the base game with the subtitle Wings of Liberty, and two expansion packs, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.

Set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy, the game is built around three species: the Terrans, human exiles from Earth; the Zerg, a race of insectoid genetic assimilators; and the Protoss, a species with vast psionic power. Wings of Liberty will focus on the Terrans specifically, while the expansions Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void will focus on the Zerg and Protoss, respectively. The game is expected to be set four years after the events of StarCraft: Brood War, and follow the exploits of Jim Raynor as he leads an insurgent group against the autocratic Terran Dominion. The game includes old characters from the original game, as well as introducing new characters and locations to the franchise.

ReaL Bot - Knight Online

about King of Knight

As in most MMORPGs, the player controls a virtual character. After connecting to a server for the first time, players must take sides, choosing either El Morad or Karus. The two nations are equivalent but have different appearance. Once the nation is decided, it's a difficult and expensive process to switch nations. To create a character, the player must choose (depending on the nation) a race, from Barbarian, male/female El Moradian, and the four Tuarek races that inhabit Karus. Following that, a class must be selected for the character along with a few appearance options. Finally the character is named and given its first 10 Stat Points.

The newly created character starts out in Moradon, a neutral trade city where El Morad and Karus live in peace. The player may acquire a virtual helper (named Seed or Max) by rescuing him from the clutches of an earthworm. The helper will then give the player information about the game and also allows them to change the options.

Knight Online most popular games in the genre

Knight Online is an MMORPG developed by MGame Corporation. With over 4.25 million subscribers and 8.91 percent of the current MMORPG market share, Knight Online is among the most popular games in the genre. The original game is hosted by MGame in Korea, and requires players to enter their Korean resident registration numbers to register. There are two other official versions: Knight Online Xross (usually called "JPKO") is hosted in Japan, while Knight Online World is hosted in the United States. Some people refer to Knight Online World as USKO. Both of these versions accept registration from any location. The Knight Online World version is popular in Turkey, and players from this country are an overwhelming majority in that version, which means it's hard to find a player speaking another language. Knight Online is officially free-to-play (although to connect to the utmost of the servers during prime time, paid premium is required), but there are some features that must be paid for. In addition, there is an in-game Powerup Shop or Store which contains various items that one can purchase such as premium packages. Paid services include exclusive items and Premiums which are a limited-time subscription providing many benefit.

To advance in the game, the player must collect experience points to gain levels and items that boost the stats of the character. The monsters that inhabit the game world can be attacked using melee attacks or skills. Once a monster is killed, the killing player gains experience points and the monster leaves behind a loot box which may contain Noahs (in-game currency) and other items. The drop box is only accessible to the player or party that did the most damage to the monster. However, in case of kill stealing, the experience is divided according to the amount of damage done.

There are many quests in the game. These may require the player to kill a certain amount of a monster or to collect certain items (quest items). The squire will warn the player about any quests that may be completed at the current level. Quests are given out by certain NPCs who are usually found in towns. The reward for the quests may include experience, Noahs, weapons and armor, or even the ability to use certain skills. Players are encouraged to be patient with collection of the reward because as they level up it becomes more difficult to accumulate experience.

Players lose experience if they die from a monster. The amount lost depends on the character's level and it's also possible to lose a level upon losing experience. However, a death that results in a loss of a level will not allow the player to complete quests of the lower level.

When leveling up, the players gain stat points which can be distributed into Strength, Health, Dexterity, Intelligence and Magic Power stats. Levels 2~60 will give the player 3 stat points, while level 61 and beyond will give 5. Starting at level 10, two Skill Points are also awarded for each level. Characters may undergo the first job change at level 10 and the second job change at level 60. The job changes unlock new skills for the character, depending on its class.

Most items can be traded between players. The game's merchant feature allows the player to set up a kiosk to sell or buy items for Noahs. If a player has enough Noahs or the item sought for, he can enter the kiosk and perform the exchange. The transaction is done automatically, so the merchant doesn't have to be at the computer when the item is sold or bought. Bartering is also permissible using the trading option. This allows two players to exchange multiple items and/or Noahs between each other. Since a player can't hold more than 2.1 billion Noahs, players often exchange several items for a very valuable item. Each server has specific economies and equilibrium point for most valuable items.

And finally, the game will have a special collector’s edition available for PC only that will include a bitchin’ Batman statue designed by game director and artist extraordinaire Jim Lee. Also included will be a 56 page art book going over the making of the game, concept art and “insight into some of the iconic characters players will encounter.” Collector’s Edition buyers will also get a copy of the DC Universe Online: Legends issue #0 comic, written by Tony Bedard (Green Lantern Corps) and illustrated by Oliver Nome, Michael Lopez and Livio Ramondelli, with a variant by Jim Lee.

Free World of Warcraft Collector’s Edition

World of Warcraft Collector’s Editio
The game is sold out accross the country. Some sellers are charging five times the cost of the game due to the ‘laws’ of supply and demand.

* Play the full game on both CD-ROM and DVD-ROM
* 1 month subscription to World of Warcraft
* 200 plus page hardcover art book
* World of Warcraft Behind the Scenes DVD
* Exclusive in game pet

The idea that Blizzard can’t print CDs fast enough to meet demand is laughable. They are purposefully keeping supply well below demand. Why? Probably to keep the cost of the game from dropping due to second handers, but most importantly, because Blizzard’s servers are not able to keep up with the number of users online.

"If you’ve been following the news coming out of the Star Wars: The Old Republic panel at Comic-Con International, you’ve heard the announcement that we will indeed have Space Combat as part of the TOR experience.”

"Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various hot spots on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars space battles.
"

More about space combat will be revealed in the next issue of PC Gamer.

Street Fighter Vs. Tekken

A trailer was shown off During Capcom's Super Street Fighter 4 panel at Comic-Con today, for Street Fighter X Tekken for PS3 and Xbox 360, the official name for the game pitting characters from two of the most popular fighting game series ever against each other for the first time. At Comic Con (which is sold out according to G4), Yoshinori Ono and Katsuhiro Harada (SF 4 and Tekken producers, respectively) announced two games to the audience. The first is Street Fighter X Tekken, and they did say they want fans to call it Street Fighter Cross Tekken, and the second is Tekken X Street Fighter.

SFXT, as I'm calling it for the sake of my fingers and wrists, is of course a fighting game that will feature both Tekken and Street Fighter characters on a 2D plane with EX-esque super moves and the art sytle of Street Fighter 4. The title is being developed by Capcom. TXSF, is the same concept with different gameplay. Street Fighter characters are fighting in Tekken's world, which will feature 3D framework fans know from the series, and this title is being developed by Namco.

The announcement came in what almost sounds like the promotion for an epic wrestling match -- the proceedings of the panel were suddenly interrupted (very deliberately, of course) by producers of the Tekken series, and this was followed by a trailer that made the game official (we should have some footage up soon). Evidently SSF4 producer Yoshinori Ono first approached Tekken 6 producer Katsuhiro Harada about the idea, since Ono heard Harada was a Street Fighter fan.

Details on gameplay are still a little sparse, but some gameplay footage was also shown, which appeared to show how characters could tag each other in during Ultra combos. The demo showed Ryu and Chun-Li teaming up to take down Kazuya and Nina.

Wizard101 Guide to mixing and hatching pets

Wizard101 Pet Mixing

Guide to mixing and hatching pets
So basically if you are mixing 2 level 48 pets/promo pets:

25% same pet back
25% partner's pet back
25% hybrid that has your pet base
25% hybrid that has your partner's pet's base

E.g.

A has Colossus
B has Orthrus

25% Colossus back
25% Orthrus back
25% Sandman (Colossus base)
25% Ice Hound (Orthrus base)

I think this is true for the majority of lvl 48/promo pets.

You keep the original pet.
Pet type for the offspring is random.
From a Piggle/Imp combo it could be:
Piggle and Piggle
Piggle and Imp
Imp and Piggle
Imp and Imp

All of the offspring will have a mix of stats and abilities from both parents - that is what the cost for Hatching is based on.

Some pet types (mostly Level 48 and promo pets) can create true Hybrids that are a pet type unique from either parent.
Hydra + Satyr = Reaver

You cannot undo the mix.

We are seeing previously unexpected Hybrids appear from various combos.
There may now be more than two Hybrids for each combo.

(Also, I think we don't know that the percentages for each result is split exactly evenly. The pet types of the parents could be weighted to appear slightly more often than the Hybrids)
