Cryptic Studios posted the latest in a series of "Ask Cryptic" Q&As about Star Trek Online. This one concerns Episode missions and their rewards.
It looks like Cryptic has worked to make certain Episodes important to other Episodes later on in a "season" without making it absolutely necessary to complete those earlier Episodes. Very few Episodes are prerequisites to others, and when it does happen it's usually a "two-parter." There are lots of potential rewards for completing Episodes, including skill points, additional bridge officers, and items and weapons for yourself and your ship. Similar rewards are also available by engaging in PvP or exploring the galaxy.
Most Episode missions are said to be able to be completed by the solo player, but Episodes will scale based on how many players you have in your group, giving both soloists and groups an adequate challenge. Cryptic looks to release updates to Star Trek Online every three to four months.
Star Trek Online is scheduled to be released on February 2nd, 2010.
