Crafting Battle Staffs

Battlestaffs have two uses: a weapon and an unlimited source of air, earth, fire or water runes - depends on what one you want to make. Staffs sold at Zaff's Staff Shop are not as good in physical combat as Battlestaffs, which in turn are not as good as Mystic staffs.

Ingredients to a Good Battle Staff

A Battlestaff can be bought at the Varrock Staff Shop for 7000 gp and only on a members world, A glass orb (see glass making), 3 cosmic runes, 30 air, earth, fire or water runes.

Decide what kind you want (depending on your magic level). Take the staff and orb to the correct Obelisk and cast the charge spell on it, which will charge the orb.

Obelisk Locations

1. Air - In the Edgeville Dungeon, venture into the Wilderness part and go south past the Black Demons and climb up the ladder.
2. Water - In the dungeon near Taverly, go right through, past the Blue Dragons, the Black Demons and Black Dragon. Head northwest and up the ladder.
3. Earth - In the WInderness part of the Edgeville Dungeon until you see the demon, Chronozon.
4. Fire - In the Taverly dungeon, past the Black Dragons.

Once orb is charged you can to craft it onto the staff itself by using the orb with the staff. To enchant it you can go to Thormac the Sorcerer to have him enchant it, you need to pay a nominal fee of just 40,000gp, but you must have completed the Scorpion Catcher quest.
