Free mmorpg maker, vbGORE!
vbGORE is a powerful, open source, and free online RPG engine that concentrates on performance and features. With the help of vbGORE's fast networking and powerful graphics engine and some (although not required) knowledge in game programming in Visual Basic 6, you can create the game of your dreams without paying for a ton of bandwidth and a powerful server to support it. vbGORE is much more powerful than many of your typical Visual Basic made online RPG engine. With the power of the DirectX 8, you are open to all the 3D effects you could want in a 2D RPG engine by putting in 3D rpg engine features from alpha-blending and rotations to scaling and lighting. With 6 tile layers, flexible particle engine and 24 lights per tile, you are able to create a world the way you want it to look. Also, with the optimized binary packet sending and a Winsock API wrapper, you can support tens of thousands of players with less bandwidth than any other VB ORPG engine.

You won't be able to make a 3d mmorpg that looks great without either learning some 3d modeling skills OR stealing the models haha. Also mmorpg's are complicated as crap, I doubt there are any makers for them that work at all, and if they do they probably suck. PLUS you would need servers
to host the game on so that people could play it. The flexibility of mmo's also probably would make coding knowledge essential to creating them. It's not like rpg maker where you just add a story to some sprites, mmo's are on a whole different playing field and require a lot more back end work to occur and a much larger infrastructure to actually be operational.
bigworldtech.com - it has everything, the modeling pograms, the server the map makers EVERYSINGLE THING NEEDED! but they dont sell it, I need to request a licence. so since I'm 12 I'm gonna wait a while cause for now my budget is $0 o.O (I'm supposed to start this project on January when I have everythig set) so I'll ask my dad o get the licence for me o.o and I'm not gonna be alone working on this xD I'm gonna try to get some friends to help
www.Sourceforge.Net it is a whole bunch of open source stuff from MMO engines to 3D modeling engines heck even music making programs I have not looked much but like you I wanna make an MMO to like GW or WoW kind of. "hint hint" to you others I have found some decent MMO engines that work great and you can have a one man crew and look like you had 180 man crew. I am not using them though cos they are missing skill template option which is one thing I wanna put in... So I'm still looking. But yea... Check out that site I listed above you might just find something I'm goin like I said I have not gone all they way through it so even I might find what I am looking for there. And one engine I was trying out which was an awsome one if you wanna make the bigest MMO out there I mwan litterally the biggest you can make it 4x the size of WoW if you wanted it is Multiverse it comes with every thing 3D modelling kit, terrain builder, free servers, heck everything you would want and need and this is the one that makes a one man army look like a 180 man army I think you can enhance graphics to I'm not sure. Hope I was of some help.

Free mmorpg maker
if anyone could tell me where the hell i'm sposed to get a mmorpg maker that is 3D could you please notify me? oh and once i start to make it i need some people who know how to make 3D chacters and stuff because with that stuff i have no clue. all that i have used is RM2K and i am sick of 2D. And sick of offline. so i need a crew and a program before i get this project off the ground. Yeah i, i guess i just want to make on online game like delta force, but no massive multiplayer, just like 16 people on each server. do you know where i cold get that? Because i really like first person and all the vehicles from delta force and i want to recreate that in a multiplayer co-op only game.
You can take 2D engine and throw 3D objects in it to appear 3D. If your running a MMORPG, I would recommend this. You can call me what ever you want, but read what I have to say before you say anything that makes you look bad.
Most 3D Engines, such as NWN (which is awesome but not free) will require a bandwidth up/down stream of 28.8Kbps per client. That means, if your running a cable modem or DSL, you will more or so likely have a Downstream of 3Mbps with an upstream of 300Kbps. This means, if you are not ever going to use your DSL/cable modem, you can have no greater then 10 players on your server. If you run a 2D engine, you can get away with a bandwidth of 14.4kbps per client, which could double your client quota.
Now for the question, why:
3D Engines often come with a greater need of information to be transmitted. For example, with most 3D engines, you will be able to move a full 360degrees in any direction with added conditions (obstacles). Each direction will transmit information, along with movement and speed data. This does not include the players and NPCS of which will have this same data being sent to the server, and thus to you. This in itself takes a great deal of bandwidth, and we have not included actions such as attacking, spells, active abilities, etc. Only way to get out of this problem is by creating a 3D game with quad-directional movement, that establishes a combat event outside of the normal playing ground (more or so like Final Fantasy games where you move into a different place each and every time you fight). With all the limitations you will be experience, it will be far more efficient to simple take a 2D engine and install 3D objects in it. Mortal Combat is an example of this. It's all 2D, but the 3D objects are appealing enough. Hope this helps...
However, if you insist on making a 3D MMORPG, and you just want to make the MMORPG but not the game itself, go buy yourself Neverwinter Nights http://nwn.bioware.com. It is a very useful and powerful game, and it also allows you to use what is known as hak packs, which allows you to pretty much alter the entire game without giving you the source code. If you use 3D Studio Max, make your own music, have a good number of 2D pictures, they can all be installed in hak format, and put into a NWN module. Be warned though, bandwidth is required. I have to pay a bit over $100 to have only 20 people on my server.
